    The lip is the most common site of malignancy in the head and neck region. Although high cure rates can be achieved by early treatment, a significant percentage of lip cancers demonstrate aggressive behaviour, posing management difficulties. Given the aesthetic and functional significance of the lip, reconstruction post surgery is also extremely important, yet this, too, can be challenging. This textbook is intended as a comprehensive reference that will provide easy-to-follow and well-organized guidance on the management of lip cancer, from diagnosis to treatment and reconstruction. After discussion of anatomy and premalignant conditions, detailed attention is paid to squamous cell carcinoma of the lip. Surgical management is explained, and the roles of radiation therapy and chemotherapy, discussed. Reconstruction techniques following ablative surgery are then described in depth, with reference to defect size and complexity. In addition, the potential complications of treatment and reconstruction are presented, with advice on their management. The closing chapter considers other malignant lesions of the lip. The informative text is complemented by high-quality illustrations and clinical and radiographic material. During lipid peroxidation, the initial event is the formation of lipid hydroperoxide, which is followed by an oxidation event that starts a chain-reaction. The formed lipid hydroperoxide gradually decomposes into harmful aldehydes, which are the advanced end-products of lipid peroxidation.

    Liver metastases are a frequent and often fatal occurrence in cancer patients, particularly those with malignancies of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. While recent improvements in surgical techniques and a more aggressive approach to resection of liver metastases have improved long term survival for some patients, most patients with hepatic metastases still succumb to their disease. To improve these dismal statistics, a better understanding of the biology of liver metastasis, particularly the early stages that can be targeted for prevention, is essential. The cancer cells may be immediately destroyed by local defence mechanisms, they may enter a state of dormancy as solitary cells and never produce a metastasis, initiate a short-lived process of proliferation that is aborted before a metastasis is established or actively proliferate to form macrometastases. The chapters in Part I of this book provide insight into the cellular/molecular mechanisms that determine which of these scenarios prevails. Written by experts researchers in the filed of metastasis, these chapters provide state-of-the art reviews on the cellular and molecular processes that impact the early stages of the metastatic process. The unique microenvironment of the liver, its various anatomical, cellular and molecular features and the impact they have on metastasis are highlighted. In addition, the role of inflammation (pre-existing and tumor-induced), host innate and adaptive immune responses, cytokines, chemokines, growth factors and the unique molecular signatures of metastatic tumor cells are reviewed with an underscoring of the translational implications of the current state of knowledge. Nearly nine-in-ten adults surveyed say that "having more elderly people in the population" is either a good thing for society (41%) or does not make much difference (47%). How does it work?

This shortcut (Lane proxy bookmarklet) is a combination of a browser bookmark and a JavaScript application. In other words, it's a bookmark that can be programmed to do things. The Lane proxy bookmarklet simply prepends the Lane proxy URL to the current URL in your browser.

This allows you to view the URL as though you were on campus, giving you access to materials licensed for use by the Stanford academic community.
