The adductor hallucis has been detached and elevated to reveal the positions of the plantar arterial and venous arches, the deep plantar nerve and the more medially placed interosseous muscles.
  1. Flexor tendons in digital sheath
  2. Tendinous sheath (opened)
  3. Transverse head of adductor hallucis muscle (detached at origin)
  4. Deep transverse metatarsal ligament (cut off)
  5. Flexor hallucis longus muscle (tendon cut off)
  6. Tendinous sheath (opened)
  7. Sesamoid bone
  8. Flexor hallucis brevis muscle (cut off at insertion)
  9. Abductor hallucis muscle (cut off at insertion)
  10. Branch of deep plantar nerve to transverse head of adductor hallucis
  11. Oblique head of adductor hallucis muscle
