The femur and tibia have been completely disarticulated. The tibia is viewed from above and behind. The femur has been pulled forward to expose its posteroinferior aspect.
1 . Adductor magnus muscle (tendon cut at insertion)
2 . Capsule of knee joint
3 . Upper pointer: Intercondylar line Lower pointer: Medial genicular artery
4 . Posterior cruciate ligament (divided)
5 . Medial condyle of femur
6 . Tibial collateral ligament
7 . Synovial membrane
8 . Anterior intercondylar area (note the absence of a transverse ligament in this specimen)
