The fascia lata has been retained in the area surrounding the saphenous opening. Superficial inguinal lymph nodes have beem cut away althrough the lymphatic vessels (7) that drain these nodes and pass through the cribriform fascia (8) have been preserved.
  1. Transversalis fascia
  2. Inguinal ligament (slightly elevated)
  3. Iliopubic tract
  4. Inferior epigastric veins
  5. Inferior epigastric artery
  6. Round ligament of uterus
  7. Lymphatic vessel (note other lymphatic vessels in the area)
  8. Upper pointer: Cribriform fascia Lower pointer: Greater saphenous vein (approaching ovalis fossa of fascia lata)
  9. External pudendal arteries
  10. Pectineus muscle
  11. Fascia lata
  12. Adductor longus muscle
  13. Cutaneous branches of anterior femoral nerve
  14. Gracilis muscle
  15. Lateral femoral cutaneous nerve
  16. Tensor fasciae latae muscle
  17. Femoral branch of genitofemoral nerve
