The central area of the specimen shown in the previous photograph is viewed here to display in more detail the structures that lie immediately adjacent to the ureterovesical junction. The smooth muscle and fibrous tissue that surrounds the pelvic plexus and forms the lateral ligament of the bladder has been preserved. Areolar tissue has been removed from other parts of the specimen.
