The left psoas major has been detached from its spinal origins and turned laterally . Nerves to the psoas , as well as the major parts of the lumbar plexus, have been exposed.

  3. Abdominal aorta (cut off)
  4. Sympathetic trunk (pointer on ganglion of sympathetic trunk)
  5. Intervertebral disc L. II-III
  6. Lumbar artery and vein (cut off)
  7. Psoas major muscle
  8. Quadratus lumborum muscle covered by transversalis fascia
  9. Iliohypogastric nerve (faintly visible)
  10. Ilioinguinal nerve
  11. Lateral femoral cutaneous nerve
