- ArticleSlack MP, Wheldon DB.J Med Microbiol. 1978 Nov;11(4):541-5.A rapid and simple method for counting viable bacteria is described. The technique involves the use of a semi-automatic micropipette and disposable glass-capillary tubes. Viable counts obtained by this method were not significantly different from those obtained by the Miles, Misra and Irwin method or by a pour-plate method. The micropipette procedure is less hazardous than techniques involving the use of calibrated dropping pipettes.
