    Proficiency with techniques of microvascular anastamoses allows the successful transfer of free composite grafts from distant sources. We have used the free groin flap in the reconstruction of defects of the lower extremity not amenable to standard methods of closure. A series of representative cases has been presented in this article to illustrate our approach and technique.
