- ArticleKlumpp T.Ann Biol Clin (Paris). 1977;35(3):221-6.The antitrypsic capacity of serum is in good respect with the level of active alpha1-antitrypsin in serum. Its determination can be improved by a wholly automated procedure with a centrifugal analyser Gemsaec, which allows the measure of the reaction rate of the hydrolysis of a synthetic substrate (BAPNA) for trypsin. After mixing the plasma with bovine trypsin, the residual trypsic activity is measured. By this procedure it is easy to disclose rapidly the physiopathologic changes of proteinase inhibitors of the plasma, and these of the alpha1-antitrysin especially. Besides this technique can be used to study the proteinase inhibitors in other biological fluids like pleural fluid, ascites, and joint fluid.
