- Book[Jay B. Brodsky]Summary: From its start in 1909, all surgical and obstetrical anesthesia services at Stanford affiliated hospitals were provided by physician anesthesiologists. The first formal anesthesia residency training program in California was founded in 1937 at Stanford. Then in 1959 one of the nation’s earliest independent Departments of Anesthesiology was established at Stanford. Many of the most prominent anesthesiologists in the country came to work at Stanford. This book highlights the anesthesiologists on the faculty of the Stanford School of Medicine from 1909 until 1972, the final year of John Bunker’s tenure as the first Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology.Print AccessLocationVersionCall NumberItems
