Summary: "The first ABR core examination was administered in October 2013 to third year radiology residents. This core examination, which is one component toward obtaining board certification in diagnostic radiology, tests knowledge and comprehension in 18 categories, all of which must be passed. The categories are: breast, cardiac, gastrointestinal, interventional, musculoskeletal, neuroradiology, nuclear, pediatrics, reproductive/endocrinology, thoracic, urinary, vascular, computed tomography, magnetic resonance, radiography/fluoroscopy, ultrasound, physics, and safety. The core exam will have approximately 660 questions and consist of approximately 60 questions from each category (except physics will have 110 questions). The exam is to be an "image-rich", computer-based exam with multiple-choice, extended answer, and blocked return type questions. The Core Review Series will be the first and only reference specifically designed for this new exam. Each title will consist of approximately 300 questions, in a format similar to the exam with image-rich MCQs. Answers to the questions will be discussed in a concise manner along with explanations of each choice followed by relevant references. Vascular and Interventional Radiology: A Core Review will include high quality angiographic, fluoroscopic, CT, MRI, and ultrasound images that demonstrate the broad range of clinical entities encountered in the field. Answers to the questions will be discussed in a concise manner with brief discussion of the clinical pearls and rationale behind the correct answer. Literature references will be provided for each question so the reader will know where to go for further reading on the subject"--Provided by publisher.

Summary: This book provides a concise review for practitioners in preparation for the Vascular Neurology Boards including the Maintenance of Certification exam. A valuable second edition, expertly written text is supplemented with new treatment paradigms as well as new and updated trial results. Beginning with a general overview on how to prepare for the exam, this practical guide emphasizes clinically relevant scientific principles that must be mastered by the stroke clinician. Subsequent chapters examine specific epidemiological risk factors that can cause strokes, and discuss stroke pathophysiology, classification, and vascular neuroanatomy. Further subject analysis extends to specific demographics who are genetically predisposed to experiencing a stroke, including those with comorbidities and preexisting conditions. Closing chapters then focus on systems of treatment, such as stroke rehab, pharmacology, and various systems of care. Vascular Neurology Board Review, Second Edition, is not only written to act as a guide for the neurology resident and fellow, but also as a useful framework for non-neurologists.

Summary: This book is a guide dedicated to vascular pathologies affecting the central nervous system. It uses a multiple-choice format with more than 340 genuine MCQs in a convenient format that is ideal for self-study. Seven chapters provide comprehensive coverage of core concepts in vascular neurosurgery. The questions are structured and organized so as to offer a step-by-step description of each disease, from the definition, related anatomy, pathology, clinical features, radiology to surgical decisions and operative tricks. Answers and explanations appear directly below the questions to make reading easy. This book is essential for residents across neurosurgical disciplines as it includes most of the neurovascular information neurosurgical residents need to prepare for their certification exam. It is also beneficial for those seeking a refresher or for those preparing for certification maintenance.
