Dissection of anterior and medial aspects of thigh
Quadriceps femoris muscle (continued).
The specimen has been turned to expose the posterior aspect of the quadriceps in relation to the femur. The adductor muscles and hamstrings have been removed.
- Ischial tuberosity
- Quadratus femoris muscle
- Iliopsoas muscle (near insertion on lesser trochanter)
- Vastus medialis muscle
- Medial lip of linea aspera
- Popliteal surface
- Medial epicondyle
- Gluteus medius muscle
- Greater trochanter
- Sciatic nerve
- Vastus lateralis muscle
- Lateral lip of linea aspera
- Gastrocnemius muscle
- Biceps femoris muscle (cut off close to insertion)
