The fascia deep to the gluteus maximus has been dissected to expose the inferior gluteal nerve (7) and the branches of the superior and inferior gluteal vessels (2, 8) that supply the muscle.

2 . Superior gluteal artery and vein
3 . Gluteus medius muscle
4 . Piriform muscle
5 . Upper pointer: Sciatic nerve Lower pointer: Artery supplying sciatic nerve
6 . Gluteus maximus muscle (divided and reflected)
