Nerve to quadratus femoris muscle

Branches of the sacral plexus have been elevated in order to demonstrate the nerve to the quadratus femoris (4) in its course across the posterior surface of the ischium deep to the gemelli and obturator internus muscles.

1. Inferior gluteal artery
2. Sacral plexus (elevated)
3. Parietal pelvic fascia
4. Nerve to Quadratus femoris muscle
5. Body of ischium
6. Gluteus minimus muscle
7. Sciatic nerve (elevated)
8. Piriform muscle (cut off close to insertion)
9. Obturator internus muscle
10. Obturator externus muscle
11. Location of quadrate tubercle of femur
12. Quadratus femoris muscle
13. Internal pudendal artery
14. Sacrospinous ligament
15. Nerve to obturator internus
16. Inferior rectal artery
17. Sacrotuberous ligament (cut and reflected medially)
18. Levator ani muscle
19. Pudendal nerve
20. Upper pointer: Pudendal canal Lower pointer: Lunate fascia (reflected to open pudendal canal)
21. Ischiorectal fossa (anterior recess)
22. Deep transverse perineal muscle
23. Ischial tuberosity
24. Artery supplying sciatic nerve
