Portal vein and major tributaries
The major tributaries to the portal vein have been brought into view by removing the pancreas. The distal parts of such branches as the left gastric, the superior mesenteric and inferior mesenteric veins have been shown in previous views in this sequence of dissections. The inferior mesenteric veins opens into the superior mesenteric instead of the more common arrangement which it drains into the splenic vein.
