Relation of internal capsule to caudate and lentiform nuclei
Close-up view of the same brain seen previously, now with the lentiform nucleus dissected away to demonstrate the passage of the anterior commissure through it, the course of the striate arteries (including the recurrent artery of Heubner) into the internal capsule and the direction of fibers in the internal capsule. Many of these fibers are broken off at their points of entry into the lentiform nucleus. The rough area medial and posterior to the anterior commissure consists of fibers passing medially from the globus pallidus which was situated in that position.
