The deep fascia of the leg and foot has been removed. However, the superficial nerves (1,7,18) and the large saphenous vein (11) have beem retained to illustrate their relations to the deeper structures.
  1. Saphenous nerve (traceable to great toe)
  2. Gastrocnemius muscle
  3. Posterior tibial artery
  4. Tendo calcaneus (Achilis)
  5. Tibial nerve
  6. Flexor retinaculum
  7. Medial calcaneal branches of tibial nerve
  8. Calcaneus
  9. Abductor hallucis muscle
  10. Plantar aponeurosis
  11. Greater saphenous vein
  12. Soleus muscle
  13. Medial surface of tibia
  14. Flexor digitorum longus muscle
  15. Tibialis posterior muscle
  16. Tibialis anterior muscle (tendon, covered by superior retinaculum)
  17. Medial malleolus
