Exploration of liver, gall bladder, pancreas, duodenum and spleen
Dissection of pancreas (continued).
The accessory pancreatic duct (5) can be traced from its communication with the main pancreatic duct (4) laterally to its point of penetration of the duodenal wall. A major part of the head of the pancreas is drained by the accessory duct, although branches of the main duct are seen to reach the uncinate process and more posterior areas of the head.

- Pancreatic duct
- Gastroduodenal artery (note multiple pancreaticoduodenal branches)
- Junction of accessory and main pancreatic ducts

- Pancreatic duct (at point of entry into duodenal wall)
- Duodenum (longitudinal muscle layer visible)
- Branch of accessory pancreatic duct
- Common bile duct
- Portal vein

- Gastroduodenal artery (pointer near origin of artery)
- Hepatic lymph node
- Left gastric vein (visible behind dissected pancreas and pancreatic duct)
- Portal vein (at junction of splenic and superior mesenteric veins)
