Exploration of the brain from its lateral aspect
Superior occipitofrontal fasciculus
The internal capsule has been cut through to expose fibers of the superior occipitofrontal fasciculus which forms a longitudinal bundle in the angle medial to the junction of the corpus callosum and internal capsule. The name commonly used to describe this fasciculus is quite apparently a misnomer inasmuch as there is no evident connection with the occipital lobe. The downward course of these fibers posteriorly towards the thalamus is seen in this dissection.
- Artery of precentral sulcus
- Superior occipitofrontal fasciculus
- Emerging fibers of internal capsule (cut across)
- Lentiform nucleus
- Inferior occipitofrontal fasciculus
- Central sulcus (of Rolando)
- Superior longitudinal fasciculus
- Filaments of external capsule
- Uncinate fasciculus
