The lower part of the sternum and attached costal cartilages have been pulled forward.
- Lung
- Diaphragm (covered by pleura)
- Lobule of fat
- Transversus thoracis muscle (cut across)
- Xiphoid process
- Body of sternum (cut above attachment of sixth costal cartilage)
- Apex of heart
- Pericardium (cut edge)
- Sternal part of diaphragm (covered by fascia)
- Internal thoracic artery (cut off)
