Exploration of the brain from its lateral aspect
Medullary substance of insula; circular sulcus
Branches of the middle cerebral artery have been cut back further and the cortex of the insula scraped off to expose its medullary center. The circular sulcus which surrounded the insula was located at the margins of the scraped area.
