The vaginal ligament and synovial sheath have been removed from the fourth finger. Reference should be made to 98-1 for a general view of the muscle.

1. Ligament of digital sheath
2. Adductor pollicis muscle (transverse head)
3. Flexor pollicis brevis muscle (deep head)
4. Opponens pollicis muscle (area of insertion)
5. Flexor pollicis longus muscle (tendon of insertion)
6. Transverse carpal ligament (cut to expose carpal tunnel)
7. Flexor carpi radialis muscle (tendon of insertion)
8. Radial artery
9. Flexor digitorum superficialis
10. Flexor digitorum profundus muscle (tendon to index finger)
11. Opponens digiti minimi muscle
12. Lumbrical muscles
13. Upper pointer: Flexor digiti minimi muscle Lower pointer: Abductor digiti minimi muscle
14. Tendon of digital sheath (proximal limit of opened synovial sheath)
15. Flexor digitorum profundus muscle (tendon to fourth finger)
