Exploration of the brain from its superior aspect
Structure of corpus callosum and relation to corona radiata
The right half of the corpus callosum has been partially torn away to reveal more completely the direction of its component fibers. The body of the lateral ventricle is opened in the area at 22.
- Cingulum
- Anterior horn lateral ventricle
- Septum pellucidum and septal cavity
- Head of caudate nucleus
- Superior occipitofrontal fasciculus
- Insula (partially dissected)
- Location of Interventricular foramen
- Anterior tubercle of thalamus
- Corona radiata
- Transverse temporal gyrus
- Choroidal branch of posterior cerebral artery
- Lamina affixa
- Fornix (crus)
- Superior longitudinal fasciculus (cut across)
- Hippocampus
- Posterior continuation of cingulum (cut across as it spreads out toward inferior aspect of temporal lobe and hippocampal gyrus)
- Posterior cerebral artery within parieto-occipital fissure
- Anterior cerebral arteries within longitudinal cerebral fissure
- Inferior frontal sulcus
- Radiation corpus callosum (partially dissected to show direction of fibers)
- Corona radiata (cut across)
- Cavity of lateral ventricle visible through opening in corpus callosum
- Superior longitudinal fasciculus
- Meninges within transverse fissure
- Surface of lingual gyrus facing parieto-occipital fissure
- Cerebellum
