Exploration of liver, gall bladder, pancreas, duodenum and spleen
Uncinate process of pancreas elevated; pancreatic arteries
The inferior mesenteric vein and artery (4,17) and the uncinate process of the pancreas (21) have been lifted to display a part of the vascular supply to the head of the pancreas. Several arterial arches are visible which provide anastomoses between the gastroduodenal artery and branches of the superior mesenteric artery.
. Superior part of duodenum (cut across)
. Gastroduodenal artery
. Duodenal and pyloric branches of gastroduodenal artery
. Right gastroepiploic artery
. Pancreaticoduodenal branches of gastroduodenal artery
. Head of pancreas
. Descending part of duodenum
. Common bile duct
. Hepatic plexus
. Portal vein
. Proper hepatic artery
. Anastomotic branch between gastroduodenal and superior mesenteric arteries
. Body of pancreas
. Superior mesenteric vein (elevated and cut off)
. Inferior pancreatic artery (a branch of middle colic artery in this specimen)
. Middle colic artery (cut off)
. Superior mesenteric artery (cut off and elevated)
. Superior mesenteric plexus
. Inferior pancreaticoduodenal artery
. Superior mesenteric lymph node
. Uncinate process of pancreas (elevated)
. Ascending part of duodenum
. Straight artery
