Splenius capitis and levator scapulae muscles

The left trapezius and sternocleidomastoid muscles have been removed. The rhomboideus major and minor muscles have been divided. The fascia of the splenius capitis muscle has been cut away with the exception of a band (6) which has been retained across the inferior part of the muscle.

1. Greater occipital nerve
2. Tendon of origin of trapezius muscle left
3. Third occipital nerve
4. Splenius capitis muscle
5. Nuchal ligament
6. Fascia of splenius capitis muscle
7. Rhomboid minor muscle (cut across near origin)
8. Levator scapulae muscle
9. Supraspinatus fascia
10. Posterior superior serratus muscle
11. Rhomboid major muscle (aponeurosis of origin)
12. Tendon of insertion of trapezius muscle into spine of scapula
13. Rhomboid minor muscle (cut across near insertion)
14. Rhomboid major muscle
15. Sternocleidomastoid muscle
