Nerve supply to gluteus minimus

The gluteus maximus (9) and gluteus medius (7) muscles have been cut off close to their insertions.

1. Area of origin of Gluteus maximus muscle
2. Area of origin of Gluteus medius muscle
3. Iliac crest
4. Superior gluteal nerve (to gluteus minimus and tensor fasciae latae)
5. Gluteus minimus muscle
6. Tensor fasciae latae muscle
7. Gluteus medius muscle (insertion)
8. Greater trochanter
9. Gluteus maximus muscle (cut off near insertion)
10. Superior gluteal vein
11. Piriform muscle (emerging through Greater sciatic foramen)
12. Inferior gluteal artery
13. Sacrotuberous ligament
14. Gemelli muscles
15. Levator ani muscle
16. External anal sphincter muscle
17. Ischial tuberosity
18. Sciatic nerve
19. Quadratus femoris muscle
