Non-medical-school alumni receive free access to Lane Medical Library's physical collections. Self-service database searching is available from selected computers in the library. Some databases may limit access. See the Service Desk if you have any questions.
Community Membership, which includes borrowing, is available at a discounted rate to non-Medical School alumni.

The Lane library Community Card is to be used for personal study, scholarship or research only and is not to be used for business or employment. This card allows entry to Lane, access to the Lane open stacks of books and journals and the use of online resources. One card will be issued in the person’s name.
LANE MEDICAL LIBRARY COMMUNITY MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION AND POLICIES
Individual members of the community may use Lane Medical Library within the established guidelines. The guidelines ensure that the primary purpose of the library, which is to serve the academic, research and patient care needs of the faculty, students, staff and physicians of the Stanford University Medical Center is fulfilled.

Basic Guidelines
1)Community cards are for personal study, scholarship or research.
2)Non transferable
3)Community cards must be presented for borrowing transactions and computer access. (Lane staff has the right to ask for this card at anytime)
4)Holds may be placed for item checkout, community user will be notified when item is returned and ready for pickup.
5)Recalled items must be returned within a day or a fine will be assessed.
6)Cardholders are responsible for overdue fines and replacement costs of lost materials (minimum cost = $100.00).
7)Material borrowed may not be loaned to another institution, individual or group.
8)Lost cards should be reported immediately to the Lane Service Desk.
9)The Library reserves the right to deny use to individuals who abuse library privileges or in any way infringe upon the priority rights of Stanford’s faculty, staff or students. Library privileges may be revoked for cause at anytime.
