Can users who are not University affiliates but who are associated with other medical centers borrow materials?

The following affiliates can purchase borrowing privileges at $5.00/book.

Palo Alto Veteran Administration Medical Center
Santa Clara Valley Medical Center
Kaiser Santa Clara

Rules and Guidelines for these affiliates:

-Must have appropriate identification and register at Service Desk
-Must purchase at least 5 borrowing privileges at a time
-Only books can be borrowed
-Lane ID card or picture ID must be presented to borrow
-Borrowed material must be returned or renewed by the due date or a $25/item fine will be assessed
-Renewal of materials is considered a borrowing privilege
-Recalled materials must be returned within a day or a fine will be assessed
-Recalls of materials in use by University affiliates are not permitted
-User will be held responsible for overdue fines and replacement costs
-Privileges may not be sold, transferred, or used by another employee
-Lost cards should be reported to the Service Desk immediately


Users are responsible for complying with all Lane Medical Library's regulations, and for all fees and costs incurred. The Library reserves the right to deny use of individuals that abuse library privileges or in any way infringe upon the priority rights of Stanford's faculty, staff, or students. Library privileges may be revoked for any cause at any time.

Photocopy machines and printers are available.
