Welcome to Lane Library!

The definitions and descriptions below will help you get started using the many services and resources available through Lane Library.

Also see Getting Started: How do I ...?

Lane's website, known as LaneConnex, is the obvious starting point for finding articles and books, doing searches, signing up for classes, and more. The website is searchable and contains searchable parts, such as the powerful Clinical Portal metasearch. To ensure access when off campus, and for maximum access to full text, start your searches by clicking on Lane's link to any database, including PubMed.

LaneConnexion is Lane's quarterly newsletter, which is available both online and in print.

Lane Liaisons are librarians who work closely with each department. For information assistance, a demonstration, or a consultation, contact your liaison.

Assistance is also available via (AskUs button on our website) or by phone 650-723-6831.

Search Lane's FAQ database for tips and techniques. You will find everything from how long a book can be checked out to suggestions for authors and tips on searching databases.

DocXpress (interlibrary loan and document delivery) obtains copies of articles or borrows books from other universities, if Stanford does not own what you need. Register with username and password of your choosing. Start any database search or request from LaneConnex (Lane's website) and use the Stanford button on each citation for the easiest way to request articles.

SUNet ID is required for online access to Stanford eJournals, e-books, and other resources and for using the computers in the library and computer lab. Create your username and password or check Lane's FAQ for more information.

Lane's policies, hours, and more can be found on LaneConnex under Services and in the FAQs.

Lane Classes and workshops include skills such as searching PubMed, finding who is citing your paper, EndNote, PowerPoint, writing skills, and much more. Sign up online or request a customized session for your group.
