Most database providers make available automated services to keep you up to date with journals/articles in your area(s) of interest/research via alerting services.
One can save searches via PubMed's MyNCBI service and have these searches run automatically at specified intervals. There is a Help file on Saving your search & automatic e-mail updates as well as a 4-minute , video, available.
You can also create a PubMed search as an RSS feed.
2. ISI Web of Science
Offers alerts for Science Citation Index Expanded and Social Science Citation Index.

To enable alerts:
1. Connect to the Web of Science database.
2. Register with an email and a password.
