Proxy access to Stanford University resources is provided in two different ways:
1. For the Lane Medical Library , proxy access to biomedical eJournals is provided via webpages that automatically detect whether you are on or off campus.
When off campus, you will be prompted for your SUNet ID. This takes you through Lane's proxy server, and the provider of your eJournal or database then recognizes you as a Stanford user. No special configuration of your browser is required when using Lane's proxy in this way. For simplicity, always start from LaneConnex, rather than bookmarking a specific title or publisher.
When off campus you also have the option of keeping your browser logged in for up to 2 weeks by clicking on "Off Campus Login" in the upper right of all Lane's Web pages (seen only from non-Stanford Internet addresses) and following the instructions.
2. For access via Stanford University Libraries (SULAIR), a different proxy server than Lane's is used to access eJournals and databases. This requires you to configure your browser appropriately.
Note that SULAIR's browser configuration no longer interferes with Lane's proxy server. The same browser you've configured to access SULAIR resources can now be used to access LaneConnex.
