What is Sequencher?

What is it?

The Sequencher program is one of the best tools for assembling fragmentary DNA sequences to form longer, continuous sequences, as well as other DNA sequence-related tasks (see What Is It For?, below)

What is it for?

Sequencher is ideal for:
  • assembling fragmentary DNA sequences into continuous sequences
  • translating DNA sequences
  • performing comparative sequencing, including identifying and validating heterozygotes and SNPs

Runs on:

Windows and Mac.

Where to get it:

This software is available from CMGM.
Questions regarding how to obtain a CMGM account should be addressed to Lee Kozar, Director, Computational Services and Bioinformatics Facility, .

Specific Features

Example screen shot.
  • heterozygote & SNP detection and analysis
  • cDNA to Genomic DNA large gap alignment
  • comparative sequencing
  • ORF translation
  • support for confidence scores
  • GenBank feature import
  • restriction enzyme mapping
