Two-Step Authentication

Introduction

Two-step authentication is a Stanford campus-wide requirement to increase security around accessing Stanford proprietary information, licensed materials and intellectual property.

This means that in addition to SUNet ID and password, a second identifier must be used to get access to secure services. There are three ways you can get that second identifier:

  1. Text message to your phone
  2. An application you download and install on your smartphone or computer
  3. A pre-printed set of identifiers you carry with you
