Where can I find information about questionnaires and psychological tests?
Psychological tests such as the MMPI, IQ tests, and other major tests are generally not freely available. Lane Library does not have a collection of tests. You may find sample questions or a preview copy on the internet.
Useful books in Lane's collection include:
Measures for Clinical Practice and Research: a Sourcebook, by Joel Fischer. Call
Number: BF176 .C66 2007 Reference.
Measuring Health: A Guide to Rating Scales and Questionnaires, by Ian McDowell. Call
Number: RA408.5 .M38 2006
To find similar books, search Lane's online catalog for the subject headings "psychological tests" or "questionnaires".
The Educational Testing Service Test Collection provides an index and inexpensive resources for a wide variety of tests.
Cubberley Education Library has a collection of tests on microfiche; check Cubberley's website for more information
To find the most comprehensive and authoritative information about available tests, including a description of the variables, type of instrument, where to order, cost, and more, try the Mental Measurements database (listed on Lane's databases page). This database also includes reviews of the tests, which aid in evaluating which one would be most suitable for a particular purpose.
To find articles about the validation and construction of particular tests, or tests in general, try one or all of these databases:
--HAPI (Health & Psychosocial Instruments) covers articles about tests, mood scales, quality of life instruments, etc. The actual questions in the scale or questionnaire are often included.
--ERIC (educational testing)
--PsycInfo (particularly useful for discussion of techniques, e.g., how to validate a test)
--American Psychological Association's FAQ on Psychological Tests
