How can I find information about book chapters?

Finding citations to book chapters is a challenge, as most indexes don't include this type of material. Searching for information contained within an electronic book is simplified by using metasearches such as Lane's Clinical Core and Pediatric Core searches, or online tools such as Books@Ovid, MD Consult, ClinicalResource@Ovid, and the NCBI Bookshelf.

For major and/or historical medical books, many chapters are included in Lane's catalog. Search by author or keyword.

PsycInfo includes books and book chapters in the field of psychology all the way back to the 1880's.

ERIC is a good starting place for education books and chapters.

Some general sources that may be useful include:

Google, Google Scholar, Science Citation Index via Web of Science or SearchPlus (chapters may be cited by articles), publishers' websites, and online catalogs such as WorldCat.

Links to all these can be found on Lane's databases page.

Contact a reference librarian for assistance with particular questions.
