The fascia deep to the gluteus maximus has been dissected to expose the inferior gluteal nerve (7) and the branches of the superior and inferior gluteal vessels (2, 8) that supply the muscle.

3 . Gluteus medius muscle
4 . Piriform muscle
5 . Upper pointer: Sciatic nerve Lower pointer: Artery supplying sciatic nerve
6 . Gluteus maximus muscle (divided and reflected)
7 . Inferior gluteal nerve
8 . Inferior gluteal artery
9 . Levator ani muscle
10 . Inferior gluteal vein
11 . Sacrotuberous ligament
12 . Ischial tuberosity
13 . Inferior gemellus muscle
14 . Posterior femoral cutaneous nerve
