The descending part of the duodenum has been opened along its convex border and its anterior wall has been elevated.
1 . Plica circularis (in descending part of duodenum)
2 . Minor duodenal papilla (opening of accessory duct not distinct)
3 . Upper pointer: Major duodenal papilla (pointer on openings of common bile duct and pancreatic duct) Lower pointer: Longitudinal duodenal fold (forming frenulum of duodenal papilla)
4 . Muscular layer of duodenum (pointer on cut edge of a circular fold)
5 . Muscular layer of duodenum (pointer indicates circular fibers)
6 . Pancreatic duct
7 . Accessory pancreatic duct
8 . Superior mesenteric artery
9 . Prominent hood-like plica circularis overlying major duodenal papilla
10 . Inferior pancreaticoduodenal artery
11 . Horizontal part of duodenum
