Compartments for extensor tendons deep to dorsal carpal ligament
The ligament has been cut to expose the tendons lying within the various compartments. The synovial sheaths of these tendons have been opened. The proximal and distal limits of these sheaths are not sharply defined on all of the tendons.
. Extensor pollicis brevis muscle
. Extensor carpi radialis longus muscle (tendon)
. Extensor carpi radialis brevis muscle (tendon)
. Extensor pollicis longus muscle (tendon)
. Branches of dorsal metacarpal artery I
. Dorsal interosseous muscle I
. Metacarpal II
. Extensor indicis muscle (tendon)
. Junctural tendon
. Dorsal interosseous muscle IV
. Common extensor digitorum muscle (tendons)
. Extensor carpi ulnaris muscle (tendon)
. Dorsal carpal ligament (cut to open compartments containing extensor tendons)
. Left pointer: Styloid process of ulna Right pointer: Extensor digiti minimi muscle (tendon)
