The dura mater has been removed from the bone to the left of the midline except in the region of the cribriform plate. Ther terminal nerve (3) was cut at the point of its penetration through the arachnoid membrane covering the gyrus rectus on the inferior surface of the frontal lobe.

4 . Olfactory bulb (several of the numerous olfactory nerves are visible passing from the bulb into the cribriform plate)
