Nerve supply to semitendinosus muscle
The long head of the biceps has been excised to expose the nerves that enter the semitendinosus. The semitendinosus has been cut across at its origin and turned slightly medially.
1 . Ischial tuberosity
2 . Greater trochanter
3 . Sciatic nerve
4 . Quadratus femoris muscle
5 . Muscular branch of sciatic nerve (to semitendinosus muscle)
6 . Deep branch of medial femoral circumflex artery
7 . Gluteus maximus muscle
8 . Adductor magnus muscle (near insertion)
9 . Perforating artery
10 . Lateral intermuscular septum
11 . Vastus lateralis muscle
12 . Adductor magnus muscle
13 . Gracilis muscle
14 . Semitendinosus muscle (reflected)
15 . Semimembranosus muscle
