Kidneys, suprarenal glands and posterior abdominal vessels, nerves ana glands
Sympathetic trunk, greater splanchnic nerve and celiac ganglion with diaphragm resected, left lateral view
Most of the diaphragm has been cut away. In the thorax the aorta, hemiazygos vein, sympathetic trunk and greater splanchnic nerve have been dissected, together with portions of the intercostal vessels. Below the diaphragm the dissection is similar to that shown in view 152-1.
. Thoracic aorta
. Hemiazygos vein (lower end cut off at point of junction with left renal vein)
. Posterior intercostal artery IX
. Posterior intercostal vein X
. Location of intervertebral disc Th. X-XI
. Lesser splanchnic nerve
. Posterior mediastinal lymph nodes
. Diaphragm (right crus, cut off)
. Greater splanchnic nerve (note passage through small aperture in left crus of diaphragm)
. Celiac trunk
. Upper pointer: Celiac ganglion Lower pointer: Right crus of diaphragm
. Lumbar lymph nodes
. Costal pleura
. Sympathetic trunk (upper two pointers on ganglia of sympathetic trunk)
. Rib IX (cut off)
. Diaphragm (cut off)
. Intercostal nerve XI
. Joint at head of rib
. Part of diaphragm attached in region of disk of Th. XII-L. I vertebra
. Lateral lumbocostal arch
. Rib XII
. Left crus of diaphragm
. Quadratus lumborum muscle (cut off)
. Psoas major muscle (cut off)
. Iliohypogastric nerve and ilioinguinal nerve
. Lumbar nerve I (branch which joins lumbar plexus)
. Lumbar artery and vein II
