Internal oblique and transversus muscles; falx inguinalis
Several fascicles of the internal oblique have been elevated (4) to reveal the underlying fascia and transversus muscle. The lower borders of the internal oblique and transversus blend in this specimen into a tenuous conjoined muscle (6). As is frequently the case, a definite conjoint tendon is not present and the lower parts of the muscles are not readily distinguished.
1. Internal oblique muscle
2. Ilioinguinal nerve
3. Muscular branch of ilioinguinal nerve
4. Internal oblique muscle (cut and reflected medially)
5. Aponeurosis external oblique muscle (cut across)
6. Conjoint tendon
7. Reflected inguinal ligament
8. Inguinal ligament
9. Transversus abdominis muscle (covered by fascia)
10. Genital branch of genitofemoral nerve (branch to cremaster muscle)
11. Cremaster muscle
12. Pampiniform plexus
13. Internal spermatic fascia (ensheathing ductus deferens and associated structures) 14. Femoral artery
