Main Library — Lane Building
The Main Lane Library in the Lane Building (L109) is open to all.
- Study spaces, reading lounges, and group spaces throughout both floors
- Computer carrels and other workstations on the 1st floor (SUNet ID required )
- SHC EPIC Station (SHC Credentials required) on the 1st floor
- Reference and Course Reserve books, exam review materials e.g., USMLE on the 1st floor
- Print journals and books on the ground floor
- Audiovisual media (CD/DVD) on the ground floor or in Course Reserves
- History Center, which includes Stanford's medical archives, is located on the ground floor and open by appointment only. Try a History search for material available »

Library Branch — Li Ka Shing Center
Lane’s Li Ka Shing Center branch, located on the 4th floor of Li Ka Shing Center, is reserved for medical and SoM graduate students only and requires key card access.

Library Branch — Alway Building
Lane’s Alway Branch is located in a M230 study space on the 2nd floor of Alway Building and is open 24/7 for SUMC members.

What is "Location" in the Catalog?
The "Location" in a catalog record refers to the specific collection or a physical area of the Lane Library where the item is housed. The location types are:
- Periodicals: A-Z: print journals shelved alphabetically by title on the ground floor of Main Library (See floor plan, PDF)
- Offsite : back issues of several thousand periodical titles stored offsite (Request offsite items)
- LC: books numbered using Library of Congress numbering system on the ground floor of Main Library (See floor plan, PDF)
- Reference: materials located in Main Library in the Reference & Reading Alcove
- History or Special Collection: materials that are a part of the History Center ()
- Audiovisual materials (CD/DVD): located on the ground floor or in Class Reserves (Ask for these at the Service Desk)
Requesting Offsite Materials
Lane has back issues of several thousand periodical titles that are mostly stored offsite; you may request them through the Lane Catalog if you are registered with Lane.
